Southern Water

Straight has successfully worked in partnership with Southern water for the past 6 years and have run a number of different water conservation promotions with them over that time. Water Companies are set targets by OFWAT to encourage their customers to conserve water. Straight assists Water Companies to meet this goal by promoting a range of water saving products.

In 2005 Straight designed and printed full colour high quality leaflets for Southern Water to be distributed with the water bills, offering water butts and composters to residents at discounted prices. Products were available on a home delivery basis but with the option to try the goods out for 60 days before choosing whether to keep the goods. This offer was extremely popular with over 6,000 water butt kits being purchased by customers.

With the summer of 2005 being particularly hot in the South of England and water running short, Southern Water asked for further help with their water conservation programme. With our expert guidance they chose to offer a One Day Sale which offered customers an option to collect water butts on a designated day from selected collection points. Straight sourced the two best locations in the Southern Water catchment area and provided all the marketing support. This included producing a further 240,000 bespoke leaflets and organising the distribution.

Customers were able to order their products by a number of methods, through a dedicated telephone line, by sending payment in the post or by ordering online through a dedicated website. This hard-hitting campaign resulted in the supply of a further 3,000 water butts across the region.
