STRAIGHT BUTTS BOOST GREENFINGERS APPEAL

Straight plc has donated £10,000 to the Greenfingers Appeal marking the third year of its support for the charity and making a total contribution to date by Straight of £30,000.

The Greenfingers Appeal is the charity of the gardening industry and is dedicated to the creation and improvement of gardens at Children's Hospices around the UK. Whilst generally the children are too ill to be actively involved, the grounds and gardens of a hospice play a vital role as a place of peace, solitude and calm, for parents, siblings, friends and relations.

Jonathan Straight, chief executive of Straight plc presented the latest cheque to three well known gardening celebrities and supporters of the Greenfingers Appeal: Charlie Dimmock; Peter Seabrook; and Joe Swift at the House of Commons.

Funds have been raised through Straight plc’s retail catalogue Evengreener from the sale of compost bins and water butts. Jonathan Straight said: “Straight makes a donation for every compost bin and water butt sold from our catalogue, Evengreener. Throughout 2006 we had the support of Channel 4’s City Gardener Matt James, which has helped enormously to raise the profile of the appeal. We are delighted to have contributed to such a worthy cause and look forward to continuing our support through 2007”.
