New Kitchen Caddy Range
This year sees Straight return to the CIWM exhibition with a new range of innovative organic waste containers. Straight has further extended its portfolio of food waste containers with the addition of 7 litre and 10 litre Kitchen Caddies in both solid and ventilated versions. Straight now offers a complete range of sizes from 5 litres upwards.
With food waste making up 30% of the average household bin, food waste collection is one topic that is rapidly rising to the top of the environmental agenda. Many local authorities are already piloting food waste schemes to further divert biodegradable municipal waste (BMW) away from landfill and to increase their recycling rates.
The new Kitchen Caddies have the added benefit of being manufactured in the UK. With other containers coming in from overseas, this reduces the cost of freight as well as the carbon emissions associated with delivery.
Designed specifically for the collection of food waste, the caddies are the perfect partner for Straight's 23 litre Kerbside Caddy. The new products incorporate a range of features as standard, including a locking lid to ensure spillage is avoided and a liner trap to secure compostable liners. Available in a variety of colours, the containers can be fully customised with graphics and print to meet individual requirements.
Jonathan Straight, Chief Executive of Straight plc said, "Our customers deserve the widest range and best choice in food waste containers and our new range of caddies offer the ultimate solution for food waste collections."
"We have championed food waste collections for several years and we still believe that they are one of the best ways to further increase recycling rates and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill. With recycling targets continually increasing, many local authorities realise that they are going to have to collect additional materials to meet them. Food waste collection is the next step and numerous authorities are starting to see the benefits of tackling this element of the waste stream."
